Skepticism   Print  E-mail

There’s a pretty good chance that you have an open mind since you’re reading this content on HelloGhost.Com or DarkenSouls.Com. However, there are billions of people that simply refuse to believe what they cannot understand. I have always believed that the more intelligent a person is, the more he or she believes in the possibility of the unknown.

I don’t claim that there are ghosts, demons, angels, spirits, or aliens. I have no paranormal experience, and have never 'seen' anything that couldn't be explained and 'written off' as something else. I do have an open mind, and I do believe it to be naïve when people claim there is nothing more than what they can access with their five senses. I feel that skepticism exists because we’re afraid of what we may find.

Try to fathom this. NASA reported, in 2002, that they estimate over 125 billion galaxies exist. Within each galaxy, perhaps a million solar systems exist. When there are that many planets in existence, why would a person disbelieve in the possibility of other life forms? Does it not seem somewhat probable that something more may actually exist beyond this planet?

Perhaps it’s due to similarities with believing in ghosts, spirits, demons, or angels. The proof of their existence could create a whole new state of mind for people. Questions would be raised about the afterlife, and some of these questions would defy their own religious beliefs. Combining the potential devastation of their religion, along with not understanding ‘how’ or ‘why’, and wrapped up with the enormous amount of worldly ‘peer pressure’ against the belief of the unknown, it’s no wonder why people choose not to accept the possibility of the probable.

However, in defense of the non-believers of the paranormal, I can’t say that I blame them. There are just too many false claims of the paranormal by people trying to take advantage of those who do believe. Perhaps people just refuse to believe in what lies unseen due to a subconscious effort to keep themselves safe from those who do take advantage of ‘the believers’.

Whatever the reason, it is unfortunate that skepticism limits us from seeking the truth. If we weren’t so afraid of the unknown, perhaps our race may have humbled and lost the dominancy that's been restraining us for so long.

or maybe they refuse to admit to believing that such things exist because not that long ago and even still today in some parts people are incarcerated and medicated into not believing in such. believe me when i say it still happens and they can do it to you for even believing there's a God.

some people just don't want to rock the boat. they believe if they keep their noses to the grindstone and stick to the norm in all things they'll prosper in life. this tends to be true. those who react to ghosts seem to have even more trouble from them later.

ever see that true account on tv of the catholic family who bought a beautiful house at a great price only to find out it had been a mortuary. it's a sobering truth that ghosts can and do touch people and have hurt them.

I still question it. Aliens, absolute. I'm not so egoistical as to believe we're the only ones.

As for ghost.... I know what I've experienced. Am I balanced? Hell if I know. But something happened. Something not ordinary in my world as I know it, left a mark on me.

Did you write the opening, Root? Damn that's good.

As far as intelligence goes, the more learned one is, the more they put to question. So in a way, they are more open to these things.
